Betty Ramsey has been named general manager of Tidewater Publications LLC, which publishes The Tidewater News and other online and print products.
Ramsey, a Drewryville resident who has served as the newspaper’s advertising manager for the past 4 1/2 years, will be responsible for day-to-day management of all facets of the newspaper’s operations, including advertising sales, distribution and production.
“Betty has earned this opportunity through hard work and loyalty, her in-depth knowledge of our company and a track record of getting things done,” said Publisher Steve Stewart. “She has been a terrific partner in our newspaper’s growth and development over the past several years and has earned the respect of the team she will lead.”
Ramsey is a former small business owner and the previous advertising director for San Diego Bride and Groom and San Diego this Week magazines. She has 20 years of sales and marketing experience.
Together, she and her husband, Gary, have 6 children and three grandchildren.
She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, gardening, fishing and the beach.
Ramsey said she is looking forward to the new challenge at The Tidewater News.
“I have had the opportunity to work with an outstanding group of individuals here,” she said. “I am honored and excited about this new responsibility.”
Stewart, who recently was named vice president of Boone Newspapers Inc. with responsibility for the company’s newspapers in Virginia and North Carolina, said he will continue to live in Franklin, maintain his primary office at The Tidewater News and be actively involved in the newspaper’s management.
