Inez Colbert
SUFFOLK—Inez “Aunt I” Colbert, 86, died Oct. 25, 2009, at her residence.
She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of the late Richard and Louvenia Ridley Colbert.
She was also predeceased by four sisters, Blanche Wright, Betty Brown, Alice Randall and Louise Jolly; two brothers, William Colbert and Richard Colbert Jr.
She retired from Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Ms. Colbert was a member of Macedonia AME Church where she was on the Senior Usher Board, a member of the Lay Organization, Missionary Society, Adult Sunday School Class and the Wednesday night Bible Study.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Colbert of Suffolk; one sister, Ann Colbert of Newark, N.J.; a devoted niece, Patricia Hernandez (Ramon) of Portsmouth; devoted nephew, William H. Wright (Evelyn) of Suffolk; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Macedonia AME Church officiated by Rev. Charles L. Harvin, Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
A wake will be held today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home Chapel. Crocker Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
