WAVERLY—Dr. Charles W. “Bill” Chamberlain, 82, died unexpectedly Oct. 16, 2009.
He was predeceased by parents, William and Alma Chamberlain; sisters, Peggy Ann Earhart and Mary Jane Howard; wife, Barbara; son, William; and granddaughter, Catherine Ann Snock.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, John and Matilda Chamberlain of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; daughters, Elizabeth Collier and husband Roger of Waverly, Mary Ann Wynn and husband Herb of Waverly, Carol Butler and husband K.V. of Stuarts Draft, Laura Chamberlain of Bluff City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Justus Butler, Cortney and Hunter Doss, John and Jennifer Chamberlain, Crystal and Robbie Snock, Joseph, Adam and Roger Collier Jr.
Dr. Chamberlain’s accomplishments include degrees from Virginia Polytechnical Institute and the Medical College of Virginia, retired dairy farmer, emergency room physician, local private practitioner (Waverly Medical Center LTD), and medical director at Patient First (Battlefield Boulevard and Cedar Road).
He was a loving husband and father who was left with a hole in his heart at the loss of his son and wife.
Nonetheless, he filled that void by spending every possible minute with his children and grandchildren.
Additionally, he had immeasurable commitment to his brother and sisters and all of their children. Family connections were of utmost importance to him.
He was a true humanitarian, dedicating his professional heart and soul to all of his patients throughout the years. His patients and colleagues recognized this and returned this tenfold in their love and support for him.
A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Ray Rowland will be held at Carsley United Methodist Church in Carsley, Sunday at 2 p.m.
