SUFFOLK—Rachel Ann Robinson Brooks, 66, died Oct. 9, 2009.
She was born in Norfolk County to the late Laura White Robinson and Johnny Robinson.
She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine White and a brother, Burton White.
Mrs. Brooks was a graduate of Crestwood High School and attended Elizabeth City State University and briefly taught public school in Williamsburg.
She was a member of Greater Bethel AME Church and was a devout Christian with a deep love for the Lord and enjoyed praising the Lord with song.
Survivors include her four loving children: two sets of fraternal twins, Willie Brooks III and Wilmet Brooks, both of Suffolk, Ramona Brooks of Virginia Beach and Renee Brooks of Hampton; two grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Robinson (Alberta) of Portsmouth and William Robinson (Shirley) of Ivor; a faithful canine companion, Snoopy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration service will be held today at 11 a.m. in Greater Bethel AME Church, Chesapeake, with the Rev. David Harris officiating.
The body will be placed in church today at 9 a.m.
Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
The family will be assembling at the funeral home today at 10:15 a.m. for the funeral procession.
