Lester W. Harrell
JARRATT—Lester Wright Harrell, 77, died Oct. 11, 2009.
He was the son of the late Charlie and Daisy Harrell and was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Grigg.
Mr. Harrell was born in the home which he and his wife of 57 years, Irene Lynch Harrell resided.
Survivors include his daughters, Lynn H. Ramsey and husband Travis of Drewryville and Jo Ann Harrell of Richmond; two grandchildren that he loved dearly, Jason T. Ramsey and his friend Betty Cousins of Drewryville, and Amy R. Hinson and husband Jonathan of Newsoms; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Scott Hinson who brought great joy to him in his last days; two nephews, Randy and Wayne Grigg and many cousins, including Carroll Dunn Jr. and wife Vivian that were special and dedicated to him.
He was very proud of his 14 years in the National Guard as a mess sergeant and was known throughout the area as being an avid hunter and for his delicious chicken muddles.
A funeral will be held at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, at 2 p.m. today.
Interment will follow at High Hills Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department or to High Hills Baptist Church.
