Shirley L. Brown
AHOSKIE, N.C.—Shirley Lee Brown, 72, died Sept. 17, 2009, at Pitt Inpatient Hospice Care in Greenville.
Mr. Brown was born in Hertford County on Feb. 13, 1932, a son of the late James Raleigh and Daisy Hoggard Brown.
He was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Martin Brown; a son, Sherwood Lee Brown and wife Pat Benthall Brown of Ahoskie; a granddaughter, Courtney Brown Simpson and husband Henry of Harrellsville, N.C.; and a great grandson, William Henry Simpson; two sisters, Mary Brock of Ahoskie and Doris Smith of Murfreesboro, N.C.; and a brother, James Earl Brown of Kernersville, N.C.
A celebration of life service was conducted Sunday in the Ashley Memorial Chapel at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens.
