Presley L. Eley Jr.
SUFFOLK—Presley Luther Eley Jr., 91, died Sept. 18, 2009, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
Mr. Eley was the son of the late Margaret Elizabeth Cotton and Presley Luther Eley Sr., and was the husband of the late Cleo Vaughn Eley.
He was a member of Oakland Christian Church and was the owner/operator of Eley Supermarket in Whaleyville.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Turner, of Chesapeake and Janet E. Meekins, of Portsmouth; two sons, Presley Luther Eley III of Williamston, N.C., and James Henry Eley of Richmond; two sisters, Margaret C. Ramsey of Suffolk and Angie N. Griffin of Windsor; one brother, Kenneth Eley, of Suffolk; 29 grandchildren and 62 2/3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Evelyn Mehalko, and his two brothers, Lawrence Eley and Carey Eley.

A celebration of Mr. Eley’s life was held Monday in Wright Funeral Home’s Chapel in Franklin, with the Rev. Ernest Bowes officiating.
Burial followed in the family cemetery.
The family received friends at Wright Funeral Home Sunday.
