FRANKLIN—Barbara Elizabeth Statts Hughes, 79, widow of Charles Richard Hughes, died Sept. 22, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Elmira, N.Y., one of four children of the late Albert Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Hull Statts.
She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, John Statts, Albert Statts and Dorothy S. DeHaven.
Mrs. Hughes was a longtime, resident of Philadelphia, Pa., and had retired from the U S Postal Service. She had been a resident of Franklin, for the past seven years and was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church. She was a member of High Street Senior Citizens and loved playing bingo with her friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Joanne C. Fisher of Franklin; her son, Stephen S. Malloy and wife Dorothy of Landenberg, Pa.; four grandchildren, Jennifer McCoy (Don) of Franklin, Michael Malloy (Theresa) of Philadelphia, Shawn and Nicholas Malloy, both of Landenberg; and three great-grandchildren, Chance, Connor, and Casey McCoy, all of Franklin.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Assumption BVM in West Grove, Pa. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken, Pa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
