Dorothy D. Bowden
SUFFOLK—Dorothy Dilday Bowden, 83, died Sept. 15, 2009, at Nansemond Pointe Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Bowden was born in Ahoskie, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jesse Dilday Sr. and Mary Cornelia Brinkley Dilday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Bowden Jr.; sisters, MaryEllen Harrell and Ruth D. Felton; brothers, Lee Dilday, Andrew Jesse Dilday Jr., Raymond Dilday, Dan Dilday and Donald Dilday.
Survivors include her son, George Talmadge Bowden III and wife Debbie of Smithfield; a daughter, Susan Bowden Neri and husband Vincent of Suffolk; sisters, Mable D. Umphlette of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Nancy D. Wheeler of Lasker, N.C.; brothers, Ed Dilday of Greenville, N.C. and Howard Dilday of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, George Talmadge Bowden IV of Indian Trail, N.C., Julie Neri Young and husband Justin of Chesapeake, Neysa Bowden Bryant and husband Curtis of Smithfield and Paula Neri and fiancé Chad Wagner of Suffolk; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Bowden and Owen Bryant.
A graveside service will be held today at 1 p.m. in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Keith Emerson.
