H. Kelly Taylor Jr.
SUFFOLK—Howard Kelly Taylor Jr., 66, died Sept. 9, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
Raised in Como, N.C., he was the son of the late Willie S. and Howard Kelly Taylor Sr.
Mr. Taylor was a graduate of North Carolina State University and received his MBA from the College of William and Mary.
He had 33 years of service with the postal service and was the director of mail processing.
He was a member of West End Baptist Church, where he was a former chairman of the deacons and finance committee, and was a member of the Senior Committee.
He served with Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army soup kitchen.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Weaver Taylor; son, Howard “Ward” Kelly Taylor III (Sarah) of Culver City, Calif.; daughter, Kendra Taylor Snow (Scott) of Floyd; and grandchildren who lovingly called him “Grumps,” Liam Taylor, Aliza, Lily and Emma Snow; sister, Shera Dare Wheeler, of Como.
A memorial service was to be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. T. Floyd Irby Jr.
The family was to receive friends at the church following the service.
