Lynwood F. Norris
WAKEFIELD—Lynwood Flournoy Norris, 73, a longtime resident of Wakefield, died Sept. 8, 2009, at Sentara Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk, with his loving children at his side.
Born Jan. 14, 1936, in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Rev. William West and Nancy Olivia Eaton Norris.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Aniva McCulloch Norris.
Mr. Norris was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church.
He was a retired vice president and sales manager at Meherrin Chemical Company in Severn, N.C.
He was a past member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club and a past member of the board of directors of the Virginia Pesticide Association.
He served in the United States Army National Guard for eight years.
Survivors include his children, Sharon N. Newton of Virginia Beach, Debra N. Schneider of Wakefield and William C. “Bill” Norris and wife Julie, also of Wakefield.
He was predeceased by a brother, the Rev. Richard E. Norris.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
