Four charged in store burglary

FRANKLIN—Four teenagers were arrested and charged following the theft of about $200 worth of cigarettes and cigars at Southern Food Store on South Street in Franklin.

At approximately 2:22 a.m. on Monday, Franklin police responded to an alarm at the store. They found that the bottom portion of one of the glass entrance doors had been broken out and burglars had entered the store. The suspects fled before police arrived.

Franklin police officers’ investigation led them to three minors: a 14-year-old boy charged with burglary, a 17-year-old boy charged with burglary and a 15-year-old boy charged with burglary and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Police said $136 was recovered from his person. The teenagers were taken to Tidewater Detention Home. They appeared in juvenile court on Wednesday, and the 14- and 17-year-olds were released to their parents while the 15-year-old was taken back to Tidewater Detention Home.

A fourth suspect, Brandon Jamal Pearson Jr., 18, was arrested on Wednesday. He was charged with burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and is being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
