EMPORIA—Elizabeth E. Hobbs, 82, died Sept. 6, 2009, after a brief illness in a local hospital.
Mrs. Hobbs was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Buckner, her parents Arthur and Dora Edwards, and sister Irma Pepper.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Hobbs of Emporia; daughter Ann B. Lee and husband Jimmie; two grandchildren, Jamie Lee and wife Sherry, Courtney L. Applewhite and husband Greg; great-grandchildren, James, Miranda and Morgan Lee and Will Applewhite, all of Courtland; two sisters, Lucille Edwards Garnett Moore and husband Ray of Richmond and Ruth Edwards Lynch of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Greensville Memorial Cemetery with visitation to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers or food, it would be “Nannie Buck’s” wish for mourners to take a meal to a shut-in or make a donation to your local food bank.
Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, is in charge of arrangements.
