Labor Day closings set

Labor Day will be observed on Monday, and, as a result, a number of offices will be closed.
Government offices in Franklin and Southampton and Isle of Wight counties will be closed Monday.
Southampton, Isle of Wight and Tidewater academies will all be closed Monday.
All Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles offices, including the Courtland location, will be closed Monday.
All local post offices will be closed on Monday, but most will have normal operating hours today and Saturday. The Franklin post office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Town offices in Boykins and Windsor will be closed Monday. Town offices are always closed on Mondays in Newsoms and Capron.
All branches in the Blackwater Regional Library System will be closed on Saturday and Monday.
Southeastern Public Service Authority’s administrative offices will be closed Monday and there will be no curbside recycling pick-up on Labor Day. SPSA’s Franklin and Isle of Wight transfer stations will be closing at noon on Monday.
The Tidewater News office will be closed Monday, but the regular publication schedule will not be interrupted.
To ease travel throughout the state during the holiday weekend, the Virginia Department of Transportation will open lanes temporarily closed for construction from noon Friday until noon Tuesday.
