Mildred G. Shipley
VIRGINIA BEACH—Mildred G. “Nanny Shipley” Shipley, 86, died Aug. 28, 2009, at Sentara Leigh Hospital.
She was born in Norfolk County to the late Miles T. Ainsley Jr. and Mary Gertrude Sexton Ainsley.
Mrs. Shipley was predeceased by a son, Albert Harrison Shipley Jr.; two sisters, Sarah Stewart Cross and Nina Marie Collier; two brothers-in-law, Jensen Sawyer and Henry Collie; and one son-in-law, William Shaw.
Survivors include two siblings, Ruth Sawyer and Kenneth Ainsley; three daughters, Barbara Shaw of Virginia Beach, Deanna Ferrari and husband Leo of Virginia Beach and Shirley Nelson and husband Ronald of Zuni; three grandchildren, Gina Parker, Jody Kuehn, and Toni Ferrari; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Tuesday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach.
Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
