FRANKLIN-The Franklin City Council will meet Tuesday night to discuss a company’s bid to buy the region’s garbage agency.

Council members will consider a proposal made by New York-based ReEnergy Holdings LLC to purchase and privatize the troubled Southeastern Public Service Authority solid waste management system.

SPSA, which provides services to eight localities, including Franklin, Southampton and Isle of Wight, needs to sell off assets in order to pay down the authority’s debt.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
