Edward G. Bradshaw
PORTSMOUTH—Edward George Bradshaw, 85, died Aug. 25, 2009.
Mr. Bradshaw was a native of Newsoms and retired as a supervisory technician in the Quality Assurance Department of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth.
He was also a welder in Shop 26. He was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church, a member and Past Master of Churchland Masonic Lodge No. 276, AF & AM; a member of the Portsmouth Scottish Rite, Kedhive Shrine Temple of Norfolk, Mount Horeb Chapter No. 11, and the Portsmouth Shrine Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Oretha; a special friend, Mildred Birdsong; and five brothers, Cecil, Wallace, Joe, Bobby and Billy. He is survived by his sister, Shirley B. Sublett of Portsmouth and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today in Asbury United Methodist Church by the Rev. Karen Whitehurst.
Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or to the Shriner’s Hospital.
