POTECASI, N.C.—Alvin Wingate Futrell, 87, died Aug. 18, 2009.
Mr. Futrell was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Conway, N.C., the son of the late Jordan Futrell and Betty Joyner Futrell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Knight Futrell, and a sister, Louise Warrick.
He was employed for many years with E.B. Lassiter Lumber Co. and then worked at Northampton Peanut Co.
He was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Willoughby and husband Alton, of Woodland, N.C. and Pam Cullins and husband Keith of Como, N.C.; two grandsons, Adam Willoughby and wife Christine of Nicholasville, Kentucky and William Outland Jr. and wife Cheryl of Seaboard, N.C.; a brother, Clyde Futrell of Milwaukee, N.C.; a sister, Margaret Johnson of Murfreesboro, N.C.; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services was held Friday at Potecasi Baptist Church in Potecasi with the Rev. Marcus Pond officiating.

Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, N.C., was in charge of arrangements.
