WAKEFIELD—Josephine Hart Eure “Tiddle” Zachary, 81, formerly a longtime resident of Wakefield, died July 19, 2009, in Atlanta, after suffering from the deterioration of Alzheimer’s disease for the past five years.
Born in Dendron on March 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Grady Hart Sr. and Fannie Wells Hart.
Survivors include her four beloved children, William Henry “Hank” Eure Jr. and wife Brooke of Hampton, Patricia Eure Hussey and husband Bill of Durham, N.C., Edward Corbin “Eddie” Eure and wife Nancy of Virginia Beach and Jane Eure Ulicny and husband Gary of Atlanta; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Jane Hart Smith, Anne Hart Cook and Marion Hart Howard and a brother, Grady “Boy” Hart Jr.
A creative and talented lady, she owned and operated The Finishing Touch Drapery Shop in Virginia Beach for more than 25 years.
Her business is continued today by her son, Eddie, and daughter-in-law Nancy.
She was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church for many years and was proud to have been the president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Franklin, N.C., after she retired.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Wakefield United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Cannon.
Following the service, the family invites everyone to a luncheon and time of visitation in the fellowship hall of the church.
Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son, Wakefield.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Freedom House Recovery Center, 104 New Stateside Drive, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27516, a non-profit treatment center.
