Margaret L. Morings
SUFFOLK—Margaret Louise Morings died Aug. 4, 2009, at Norfolk General Hospital.
A native of NansemondCounty (Suffolk), she was daughter of the late Linous and Alice Cross Gatling and the widow of Lindsey Morings.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doretha Morings and granddaughter, Megan Morings.
Mrs. Morings attended Nansemond County Training School and was retired from Continental Telephone Company (now Verizon).
She was a member of Stoney Branch Missionary Baptist Church where she was a missionary.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Morings of Suffolk; three sons, Lindsey Morings (Seminar) of Suffolk, Melvin Morings (Christine) and Ray Morings (Louise) of Franklin; six sisters, Ruth Edwards, Alice Morings, Gladys Benton and Mary Johnson (John) of Suffolk, Irene Gatling of Jersey City, N.J. and Luella Fitzhugh (john) of Irvington, N.J.; one brother, Grafton Gatling of Jersey City; seven grandchildren, Robert, Wanda, Lindsey, Shannon, Jamie, Ikisha and Sherod; five great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Deonte, Daylah, Amarion and Zyrin; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
A service to celebrate her life was to be held at noon Saturday at Stoney Branch Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson.
Interment was to follow in the Gatling Family Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her daughter at 2017 Smalleys Dam Circle (Christiana Landing), Suffolk.
