Martha G. Horton
SUFFOLK—Martha Gray Horton, 87, died July 27, 2009.
Mrs. Horton was born in Bertie County, N.C., the daughter of the late Jodie and Gladys Lee of Colerain, N.C.
She was married to the late Eldridge Horton of Suffolk and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in various capacities until health limited her ability to serve.
Survivors include her three sons, James Horton (Betty) of Windsor, Doug Horton (Brenda) of Mechanicsville and Jerry Horton (Sherry) of Corapeake, NC; grandchildren, David Horton (Michelle), Annette Bradshaw ( Brad), Angel Darden (Shawn), Jason Horton, Shannon Drawbaugh, Brandon Horton and Tiffany Hertel (Steven); great-grandchildren, Katie Horton, Gavin Horton and Troy Horton; brothers, Darrell Lee (Charlotte) of Ahoskie, N.C. and Joe Lee (Mary) of Colerain.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Hubert Lee, Bill Lee and Dot Dilday.
The family extends a special thanks to the Peach Unit at Windsor Consulate Health Care for the care she received there and to “Cookie,” her special caregiver.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Revs. Jim George and Charles W. Thompson with burial in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery.
