Lewis W. Clark
BRANCHVILLE—Lewis Webb Clark, 85, died July 23, 2009, at Courtland Healthcare Center.
He was born in Branchville, a son of the late John Henry and Florence Conwell Clark, and was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Clark Coker, one sister, Mary Owens; and two brothers, William and John Clark.
Mr. Clark was a World War II Navy veteran of the Pacific Theater and a member of Crossroads Community Church.
He was a (1952) charter member of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Boykins American Legion, Branchville Boykins Ruritan Club and a former Branchville Town Councilman.
He was a retired roads maintenance supervisor for Union Camp Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Hazel Shearin Clark; two daughters, Judith C. Adams and husband, Danny, of Ritzville, Wash., Brenda O’Neal of Boykins; one son, Lewis Kent Clark and wife Joyce of Boykins; two sisters, Kitty C. Riddick of Nags Head, N.C. and Hazel C. Holland of Emporia; one brother, Roy Lee Clark of Littleton, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Steve Adams, Cindy Petersen, Jennifer Stillwell, Jason Felton, Michael Salloum, Bryan Mattox, Matt Mattox, Aprill Barnes, Tommy Holliday Jr., T. J. Holliday, Anthony Clark and Jill Clark; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church with Pastors Bill Shaw and Bob Adkins officiating.
Interment, with military honors, will follow in Beechwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kent and Joyce Clark, 18302 Bryant Ave., Boykins, and would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Courtland Healthcare Center.
