WAVERLY—Annie Bell Parham, 85, died July 20, 2009, at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell.
She was born June 18, 1924, to the late Otelia Holmes Smith and Major Smith Sr.
Mrs. Parham retired as a domestic engineer. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Waverly.
Mrs. Parham is preceded in death by her husband, William A. Parham; her daughter, Hellen Parham; and her son, Carcelius Parham.
Survivors include two sons, James Parham of Waverly and Richard Parham Sr. (Christine) of Newport News; four daughters, Ruth White of Elberon, Carol Butts of Hopewell, Hazel Pitt of Hopewell and Diane Moody Hill (Harold) of Newport News; four brothers, Thomas Smith (Mildred), Dosson Smith, Major Smith Sr. and McKinley Smith (Mary); her sister, Julia White of Newport News; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Smith of Waverly and Beatrice Parham of Queens, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Margoree Parham Coleman; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, among the friends a devoted Mr. J. Mason.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Waverly, with the Rev. Douglas Adams officiating.
Interment will be in the Parham Family Cemetery.
The family will assemble at the residence of Ruth White, Highway 31, 91 Elberon Heights, Elberon, one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell.
