Carl H. Mumford
FRANKLIN—Carl Henry “Chunk” Mumford, 78, died July 19, 2009, at Bloom Retirement Center in Emporia.
He was born in Southampton County, a son of the late David Mitchell and Sallie Munford Mumford, and was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and George Mumford.
An Army veteran, he was a retired carpenter and a member of Burdette Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Susie M. Copeland of Windsor and Edna M. Whitley of Chesapeake; two brothers, Alfred S. Mumford of Franklin and David M. Mumford of Nashville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating.
