FRANKLIN—Gloria Dare Rogister Gray, 83, died July 16, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Scotland Neck, N.C., a daughter of the late Lonnie Glasgow and Ida Mae Ray Rogister.
Mrs. Gray was also predeceased by her husband, James K. Gray Jr., step-father, Sam Jolly, a sister, Nanoline Griggs, and a brother, Kent Rogister.
She was a retired clerk from the accounting department at Union Camp Corp.
She was a graduate of Suffolk High School and a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
She was a member of High Street Senior Citizens, Hunterdale Senior Citizens, and the Senior Circle, Southampton Chapter.
Survivors include two sons, James L. Gray and wife Betsy of Delaware and David S. Gray of Franklin; two grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Gray and Rebecca Lynne Gray; one great-grandchild, Peighton Madison Montee; one brother, Lynn Thomas Jolly and wife, Debbie, of Gloucester; and special friends, Valerie Pennell, Shane Bullock, and Tiffany Pennell and a host of extended family.
A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress officiating.
Interment will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Franklin Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 179, Franklin, Va. 23851 or Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, VA 23851.
