Augusta D. Cerny
NORFOLK—Augusta D. Cerny, 91, died July 15, 2009.
Augusta, also known by “Gus,” was predeceased by her husband, Rudolf Cerny; daughter, Mildred Rice; and great-grandson, Christopher Williams.
Survivors include her two children, daughter, Jane C. Kauchak (Ted Barwinski) and son, Rudy Cerny (Diana); sisters, Edna Newman and Elizabeth Powell; brother, Frank Drewery; grandchildren, Robbie Rice (Tracy), Amy Williams (Kenny), Tomora Woolard (DeWayne) and Kara Kauchak (Andrew Rhew); and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cerny was born in Isle of Wight County and was a member of Coleman Place Presbyterian Church in Norfolk.
For many years, she also participated in the Senior Citizen Christmas Shop.
She blessed many friends and relatives with wonderful cooking, handmade crochet items, and her wonderful stories and sense of humor.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Herbert Brewer and his staff for their many years of dedicated care.
In honor of her, a visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a service Saturday at 1 p.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
