Origin of bones interests reader

To the Editor:

I have been reading with interest the discovery of the bones found at the construction site on College Drive.

This could possibly be a great historical opportunity for the community. Who were these people? Are they burials from Native Americans or some family that owned farm land there?

Or are they soldiers maybe killed during the Revolutionary or Civil War or maybe slave graves?

Regardless, I hope every effort is put forth to look into old records and find out who these people were.

The burial sites these people were found in should be carefully checked for items that may have been buried with them. Our past is as important as our future, so lets learn about it when the opportunity presents itself and then get on with the building of our future.
