IVOR—The White Tail Resort is looking to make a big splash this weekend.

The nudist resort will hold its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday to welcome prospective members.

Also Saturday, resort members will join thousands of other nudists across North America to attempt the world’s largest skinny-dip.

“First-time visitors can come in for free,” said Kim Winkler, the advertising and marketing manger for White Tail. “Some of our members will be providing tours of our facilities. Visitors may remain clothed, but will have to remove their clothes if they want to use the pool, hot tub or sauna.”

Winkler said visitors are also welcome to stay past 4 p.m. on either day for free, but they would have to shed their clothes for the remainder of their stay.

“We do have a lot of people who stay,” she said. “When your clothes lay in a heap on the floor, so goes all your cares and worries.”

The American Association for Nude Recreation is leading the plunge into the Guinness Book of World Records under a new category, the largest number of people simultaneously skinny-dipping.

White Tail will be one of three clubs in Virginia participating in the event at 3 p.m. Saturday.

“They want to get over 100,000 people,” Winkler said of the AANR, “but are hoping for 50,000.” She added that White Tail, which has more than 600 members, is expecting “a couple thousand” skinny-dippers.

Clothing will also be an option for Sunday’s annual Cool Car Show at the resort. The event, which is in its fourth year and is free, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The resort, which celebrated its 25th year of operation in May, is located outside Ivor near U.S. Route 460 and Virginia Route 635, Tucker Swamp Road.
