Barrett’s Landing concert was a real treat for citizens

To the Editor:

If you did not attend Sunday evening’s concert at Barrett’s Landing featuring the Navy Atlantic Fleet Band Wind Ensemble, then make certain that you do not miss it next summer.

The 50-plus-piece band included soaring vocalists whose selections ranged from the worlds of pop and classical to big band and country. The interaction with the crowd from the band director added a down-home charm to the event. A patriotic touch was included when military veterans in the crowd were asked to appear front and center to be recognized with a medley of their respective service anthems.

Members of the Downtown Franklin Association could be seen hard at work throughout the event, which was free of charge and open to all citizens and ages. Kudos to Dan Howe, Victor Story, Pam Kitchen and other association members, as well as Fred’s Restaurant’s David Rabil for their efforts in making this such a memorable evening for area citizens. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful facility within a town of our small size.
