Ryland E. Powers
FRANKLIN—Ryland E. “Boots” Powers, 78, died June 23, 2009, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Southampton County, a son of the late Annie Scott and Floyd Shelton Powers.
A retired painter, Mr. Powers was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Fowler and Edna Keesee; and two brothers, Junious and Edward Powers.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bradshaw Powers; four sons, David Powers of Marshalltown, Iowa, Danny Powers of Franklin, Dennis Powers and wife Renae of Courtland, and Donald Powers of Franklin; four grandchildren, Dustin Powers of Courtland, Elizabeth Powers of Franklin, Christina Fowler of Courtland, Wesley Fowler and wife, Ashley, of Boykins; sister, Shirley Hartman and husband, Bob, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Martha Lynch and husband, Alfred, of Jarrett; and his sidekick, “Rusty.”
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Wright Funeral Home with Major Calvin Clatteterbuck officiating.
