GATES COUNTY, N.C.—Jerome “June” Lewis Jr. died June 11, 2009, at his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1955, in Southampton County, to the late Jerome and Margaret Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was employed at Northrop Grumman for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Spike Horn Hunt Club.
He enjoyed catering cookouts and he enjoyed cooking. Jerome touched the lives of many people. He was a very loving and caring person. He will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
He was preceded by his sister, Delores Lankford and brother, Linwood Lewis.
Survivors include his daughter, Christina Renee Lewis; son, Jerome Lewis III; granddaughter, Shantell Renee Lewis; one sister, Juanita Myrick (McKinley) of Franklin; five brothers, Wallace Lewis (Brenda) of Suffolk, Waldell Lewis (Teresa) of Franklin, Louis Lewis of Franklin, Leon Lewis of Manassa, Clifton Lewis (Rochelle) of Charlotte, N.C.; five aunts, Sweetie Darden, Beadie Rawling of Franklin, Louise Haskin of Ivor, Janice Wells of Ivor, Marie Newby of Surry County; uncle, Louis Jenkins of Courtland; a special friend, Shelly Knight; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A special thanks to Sentara Obici Hospital; Maryview Hospital; VCU Medical Center; the Hospice Care Group; Dr. Shabezz and staff.
Funeral services will be held at noon today at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel with Pastor John T. Bradley, officiating. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
