Due to the threat of inclement weather, including heavy rain and lightning, the Isle of Wight/Surry Relay for Life, scheduled for tonight at Smithfield High School, has been postponed to Saturday.

The track will remain open until 5 p.m. today for setup.

On Saturday, the opening ceremony will begin at noon, followed by the celebratory Survivors’ Lap and then by the Caregivers’ Lap.

The Luminaria Ceremony will begin at 9 p.m. The Closing/Fight Back Ceremony will be at 9:45 p.m., and the festivities will conclude by 10 p.m.

Cleanup will be Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Relay for Life is a major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
