Claudio Lumanog Sr.
NORFOLK—Claudio Lumanog Sr., 77, died peacefully in his home May 26, 2009, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Pampanga, Philippines July 7, 1931.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Command Master Chief with 32 years of honorable service. He then continued to serve as a Department of Defense civilian with the Navy for 10 years.
Mr. Lumanog was a member of the Naval Amphibious Base Chapel where he served as an usher.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree and a Naval Fleet Reserve member.
He was predeceased by his parents, Fortunato and Elena Garcia Lumanog; his sisters Tessie Arthur, Fely DeLeon, Trinidad Lumanog, Toyang Henson; and brother Egling Lumanog.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Erlinda “Linda” Lumanog; sisters Connie Flores and Susie Nichols; brother Eduardo Lumanog; daughters, Helen (deceased) and Ted McGlothlin of Portsmouth; Doris and Michael Arau of Suquamish, Wash.; Alicia and David White of Como, N.C.; Vicky and Brian Sementelli of Como, N.C.; sons, Noel Lumanog of Norfolk; and Claudio Jr. and Teresa Lumanog of Chesapeake; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandsons.
A service will be held today at 10 a.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, Norfolk.
