ONLEY—Windsor High School held off Nandua High School for 30 minutes, but the Warriors broke the deadlock and poured it on in a 6-0 win over the Dukes in the first round of the Group A Region A soccer playoffs Tuesday.

Windsor finished the season at 8-6-3. Three of those losses came at the hands of the Warriors.

Windsor head coach Matt Burgess said Nandua was a strong team.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they were state bound,” Burgess said. “It was our third time playing them this season and they have been strong every game. This was the best we have seen them.

“We held them off for 30 minutes then they scored a goal on a penalty kick and more goals just followed,” Burgess added.

“It was kind of a downhill slide. We didn’t have but so many shots and their defense was really good. They had a really good goalie.”

During the regular season, the Dukes played Nandua tougher in 4-1 and 4-2 losses.

Windsor was the Tri-Rivers District tournament champions and placed second in the TRD during the regular season.
