FRANKLIN—Irma B. Hudgins, a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend peacefully died in her home on May 21, 2009.
The celebration in Heaven is tremendous as she is welcomed by those who journeyed Home before her: her parents, Bryon and Essie Boone; sister, Jossie Bea Revell; and brothers, Raymond, Marshall, Winfred, Haywood and Herman Boone.
Mrs. Hudgins taught in the City of Franklin Public Schools for 39 years before retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, the Cosmonette Club and also served on the Beautification Committee for the City of Franklin.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Charles Allen Hudgins; loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Candice and William Payne; loving sister, Virgie Mae Cherry of Suffolk; devoted granddaughter, Nayyir Payne and step grandson, William Payne Jr., all of Richmond; five sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.
Many extended family and friends including her devoted nieces, cousins and friends: Brenda Holland, Doretha Johnson and husband Donald, and Marvia Goode all of Suffolk, VA; Mae Hunt and Roger Watson of Franklin, VA; Nancy Sandidge of Franklin, VA; Dot Rawls and Michael Bailey both of Suffolk, VA.
Special thanks to her devoted caregivers: Evelyn Goodwyn, Cynita “Blue” Bailey, Constance Ford, Rosalee Johnson and Dorothy Maynard. Also to the Hospice Staff at Home Health Care Services.
Funeral service was held Tuesday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk, with the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Goode delivering the message.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
