LURAY— Blannie Cornelia Huffman, 90, died May 19, 2009, at Hawksbill Assisted Living.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1918, in Branchville and was a daughter of the late Charlie David and Mary Jane Parker Overby.
Mrs. Huffman graduated from the Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing on Sept. 2, 1944, receiving her RN degree on Sept. 18, 1944. She was employed as a nurse at Wrangler.
On May 2, 1944, she married Benjamin F. Huffman, who died on Feb. 22, 2005.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, George Clinton, Thomas Edward, Marvin Dudly and Junies “Dick” Overby; and three sisters, Virginia Gertrude Overby, Alice Catherine Cutchins and Myrtle Lee Overby Blythe.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Alexander, Dorothy Ann Duck, Jessie Edwards, Mary Ann Fountain, Kay Griffin, Brenda Hands, Juanita Sydnor, Sylvia Lowe, Horace Blythe and Bert Blythe.She was preceded in death by one nephew, Eldridge Cutchins.
A memorial service was held Sunday at Luray United Methodist Church by the Rev. Douglas Martin.
