FRANKLIN—Marjorie Pierce Galloway, 88, died May 19, 2009, at Sentara Obici.
She was born in Sunbury, N.C., the oldest child of the late Joseph Samuel and Lessie Ward Pierce.
She was the widow of John O. Galloway and was predeceased by a son John O. Galloway Jr.
She was also predeceased by a brother, J.T. Pierce and a sister, Dorothy Denton. Marjorie was a 1962 graduate of the Obici Hospital School of Nursing and was a former nurse at Raiford Hospital and Southampton Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church since 1950.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Bradshaw, predeceased by her husband, James in 2001, Betty Gail Mundie and husband, Bill, and Connie Davis and husband, Tom; one sister, Jacqueline Parker. At the time of her death she had seven loving grandchildren and 11 loving great-grandchildren and twins due in October.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 North High St., Franklin, VA 23851.
