CHESAPEAKE—Edward Junious “Good Buddy” Smith, 81, died May 11, 2009.
Mr. Smith was born April 4, 1928 in Pitt County, N.C., to the late Raymond E. Smith and Mabel Hawkins Smith.
He was predeceased by his sister, Yvonne Brewington, nephew, Cary Brewington and granddaughter, LaSonia McSwain.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ida N. Smith; two sons, Edward Smith Jr. of Portsmouth and Andre Smith of Norfolk; five daughters, Belinda N. Everett of Courtland, Faye D. Nichols of Sedley, Cassandra Vaughn of Richmond, Yvonne Wiggins (Tony) of Norfolk and Hallice Evans (Jacob) of Virginia Beach; a loving sister, Linda Smith of Bridgeport, Conn.; two sisters-in-law, Leona H. Nichols of Sedley and Pecola Councill of Franklin; 12 loving grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in New Rising Sun United Holy Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Willie Respass Sr.
Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. in Graves Funeral Home.
