NORFOLK—Annie L. Beale, died May 7, 2009, while a patient in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The North Carolina native was born May 21, 1921 to John and Minnie Mason Broadnax.
Mrs. Beale was a member of White Oak Spring Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Martin Luther King Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Louis Broadnax, Madison Broadnax and one sister, Pearl Boone.
Survivors include one loving and devoted daughter, Virgie L. Fletcher, son-in-law, Leroy Fletcher Sr.; four grandsons, Michael Fletcher, Warnell Fletcher, Leroy Fletcher Jr. and Rickey Fletcher; three granddaughters, Michelle Fletcher, Reneé Fletcher and Linda Fletcher; 13 great-grandchildren; her niece, Diane Brown; two nephews, Jesse Broadnax (Liz) and Louis Broadnax (Cathy); cousins, and many other relatives.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at White Oak Spring Baptist Church, Franklin, with the pastor, the Rev. Eddie Lee, delivering the message.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., Franklin, is in charge of arrangements.
