Franklin High School’s varsity baseball team improved to 4-2 in the Tri-Rivers District by beating rival Sussex Central 5-4 Monday.

Bronco ace Ben Devore struck out 16 Tiger hitters en route to the complete-game victory. Senior centerfielder Donzell Shearin, playing his first game this season, keyed Franklin’s big offensive inning with a two-run single up the middle in the fourth.

The Broncos host non-district foe Northampton today and close out the regular season Thursday with a doubleheader at district-leading Windsor.
