Sidney Chavis Jr.
MURFREESBORO, N.C.—Sidney Chavis Jr., 69, died April 26, 2009, at his residence.
He was a native of Hertford County.
Survivors include a son, Rickey Britt of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Evangeline Eley of Murfreesboro and Mary Tyler of Boston, Mass.; two brothers, Alton Lassiter of Baltimore, Md. and Richard Lassiter of Portsmouth; four sisters, Alice Carter, Jeanette Bullock and Catherine Lassiter, all of Murfreesboro, and Clarine Costen of Portsmouth; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Hertford County Undertakers Chapel, Winton, N.C., with the Rev. Lloyd Gatling officiating.
Burial followed in New Haven Church cemetery.
Hertford County Undertakers, were in charge of arrangements.
