Thanks for making Spring Fling a success

To the Editor:

Thank you. The Spring Fling, July 4th Committee, Recreation Board and the Sedley community would like to thank everyone who helped make our Spring Fling a success. We started the day with a huge yard sale not only with the numerous items that had been donated, but also other families that rented tables — if you didn’t come by and shop, you missed the best deals around.

Lots of handmade crafts were available — birdhouses, garden stakes, wooden wheelbarrows, towels, handmade jewelry, painted gourds and much more. When baked items were brought in they were purchased before they could get prices tags on — homemade rolls, Amish bread, cakes, pies, cookies, etc.

Thanks to the vendors — Cathy Felts, Premier Jewelry; Debbie Crowder, The Cat’s Meow; Linda Pope, Pampered Chef; Marbara Woods, Old Windows With Art Work; Sue Ann Raiford and Anita Malcolm, handmade baskets, handmade notecards and etc.; Stephanie Brantley, Rosemont Nursery; Thomas Womble, Grasshopper Landscaping; and Michelle Womble, The Sedley Store Lunch Deli.

Silent auction had friends and family bidding against each other for a handmade basket planter, handmade clock with Johnsons Cornmeal Mill House on front, a local artist Sarah Burgess matted print and items donated by local businesses. This proved to be a busy table.

The Sedley Baptist youth group sponsored a coloring table for the children, and this helped let the parents browse.

Taking a ride on the train put smiles on faces — some rode every time the train left the station. Thank you, Mr. Engineer. There was a lot of work to do to prepare for the day to happen — phone calls, sorting out yard sales items, setting up, picking up items, praying that all goes well and the weather stays beautiful and all went great, weather was beautiful and the crowd was better than expected.

A huge thanks to those who attended that day. Look for future fundraising events that are being planned. Details will be released soon on the next one — a beauty pageant.
