Virginia B. Hill
NORFOLK—Virginia B. “Ginny” Hill, 73, died April 14, 2009, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Courtland, to the late Ruth and Arnold Boykins Sr.
She was educated at Southampton County Training School.
Mrs. Hill was a devoted member of the Way of Truth COGIC.
She was a faithful member of both the Usher’s Board and Mother’s Board. She retired from the City of Norfolk as a school crossing guard after 26 years of service.
She was employed with Lee Wilson’s Janitorial Service for 18 years and she was employed with ABM Janitorial Services until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Hill Jr.
She embraced many of life’s obstacles with a smile on her face and determination in her heart. She loved to cook, worship the Lord and spend time with her family.
She brought joy and love to everyone she encountered.
Survivors include her five children, Ruthie Hill (Terry), Robin Johnson (Michael), Gary Hill (Audrey), Carmela Hill (Van), Kim Ames (Charlie), all of Norfolk; two sisters, Adelaide Gilliam and Shirley Ford; three brothers, Willie Boykins, Robert Boykins and Armond Boykins Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many beloved friends.
A homegoing service was held Monday in The Way of Truth COGIC, 2322 Maltby Ave., Norfolk.
Interment followed in Rosewood Memorial Park.
Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home in Chesapeake was in charge of arrangements.
