Thomas E. Jackson
PORTSMOUTH—Thomas Edward Jackson Jr., 85, passed away April 4, 2009.
A native of Gates County, North Carolina, he was predeceased by his parents, Pearl G. and Thomas E. Jackson Sr. and a brother, Fred Jackson.
Mr. Jackson retired from Western Electric/Lucent after 36 years of service and was an Army veteran of World War II including the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Marian S. Jackson; three daughters, Donna J. Randall of Suffolk, Lisa J. Moorman and husband A.J. of Chesapeake and Julie J. Perry and husband Scott of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Ann Farless and husband Edsel of Portsmouth and Delores Duplissey and husband Bill of Suffolk; one brother, Phil Jackson of Suffolk; a sister-in-law, Mildred Jackson of Moyock, N.C.; six grandchildren, Jack Randall and wife Tricia of Courtland, Megan Randall of Suffolk, Kathryn and Ashlyn Moorman of Chesapeake, U.S. Marine Corps Private First Class Matthew Perry and Hayley Perry of Fredericksburg; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Claire Randall of Courtland; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Reaves officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
