Hubert Byrum Sr.
WINDSOR—Hubert T. Byrum Sr., born Nov. 9, 1927, in North Carolina, died April 3, 2009.
The widower of Nellie S. Byrum who passed away Oct. 22, 2008, he was the son of the late William Jesse and Nellie Chappell Boyce Byrum, and predeceased by Mavin Jones, Minnie, Anna, John and William Byrum. Hubert was a member of Maranatha Church.
Mr. Byrum retired from farming and Southern States Cooperation in Windsor.
He was in the Virginia National Guard. He loved his church family, neighbors and working in his garden and yard.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Hubert T. “Buck” Byrum Jr. and Patricia N. Byrum and Michael L. Byrum, all of Windsor; grandchildren, Dawn, H.T. “Buck” III and Patricia Byrum; sisters, Annie Bilby of Suffolk and Marie Matthews of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Sentara Obici Hospital and Tandem Nursing Home and Hospice for all the care they gave to Hubert Byrum Sr.
A funeral was held Monday in Parr Funeral Home, by Dr. Clyde Alderman, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, Suffolk, was in charge of arrangements.
