Alexander Jenkins
NORFOLK—Alexander Jenkins, 92, died March 29, 2009, in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Dec. 23, 1916, to the late Albert and Martha Hobbs Jenkins in Capron.
Mr. Jenkins was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Norfolk, where he served as father of the church and sang in the choir.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he moved to Jacksonville, Fla., in April 2008 to live with his daughter and son-in-law.
He was predeceased by his wife, Atha Jenkins.
Survivors include his three daughters, Dollie Sims (Julius), Vanessa Morris (James) and Agrina Barnes; one son, Michael Barnes; one brother, Wilson Jenkins; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Bishop C.V. Russell Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.
Family and friends will assemble in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel, one hour prior to service for procession to the church.
