PORTSMOUTH—Flora Lenora “Tootsie” Dickens, 84, died March 24, 2009, in Maryview Medical Center.
She was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James Dickens; five sons, James Whitehead (Doris) and Byron Dickens (Alycia) of Chesapeake, James Arrington (Catherine) of Battlesboro, N.C., Laverne Dickens of Portsmouth and Linwood Dickens of Virginia Beach; four daughters, Janet Mason (Oris) of San Diego, Carolyn Hanna of Weir, Miss., Gwendolyn Jackson (Ronald) of Virginia Beach and Terri Dickens of Portsmouth; 35 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild; two brothers, S.B. Dunn (Annie Mae) of Franklin and Eugene Dunn of Louisburg, N.C.; four brothers-in-law, William Vaughan and George Powell of Portsmouth, Moris Powell (Margie) and Arthur Flour, both of Baltimore; one aunt, Duera Rogers of Bunn, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by one son, Walter Dickens; two brothers, John and J.B. Dunn; and three sisters, Eula Lee Powell and Loraine Vaughan.
A funeral was held Monday in New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Gregory Yancey officiated.
Burial was held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake.
Fisher Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.
