EMPORIA—Ellie Moore Pollard Stainback, 95, died March 23, 2009, at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center.
The widow of two wonderful husbands, Joseph W. Pollard and Willard T. Stainback, she was the last surviving of 13 children of the late Willie Clarence and Etta King Moore of Greensville County.
She was also predeceased by her son, J.W. Pollard Jr. of Emporia who died in 2007.
Survivors include her daughter, Wilhelmina Pollard Harrison of Emporia; her two stepsons and their wives, William C. and Linda S. Stainback of Emporia and George H. “Bobby” and Madeline H. Stainback of Abingdon; grandchildren, William A. Harrison Jr. of Richmond, Joyce Ann Harrison Kaplan and husband Paul of Franklin, Jason W. Pollard and wife Betsy Cutler of Draper, Carol F. Pollard and fiance’ Joe Wampler of Waynesboro, Amy S. Sakhare and husband Dr. Ravi Salhare of Johnson City, Tenn. and Dr. G. Andrew Stainback and wife Sylvia of Plattsburg, N.Y.; five great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Lucy B. Pollard of Emporia.
Graveside funeral services, led by The Rev. Dr. Robert P. Wyatt were conducted Thursday at Greensville Memorial Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, 513 S. Main St., Emporia, VA 23847.
Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, was in charge of arrangements.
