RICHMOND—Janice Hubbard Bowman, 72, died March 21, 2009, in Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lindsay Hubbard and Elizabeth Payne Hubbard, and was formerly married to Richard G. Bowman.
Mrs. Bowman was born and grew up in the town of Mineral in Louisa County. She lived in Franklin for many years and raised her family here before moving to Richmond late in life to be near her children.
She was a talented member of the Pine Crest Garden Club of Franklin, The Tuckahoe Woman’s Club, the Mineral Historic Foundation, and the Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
A lifelong pet lover, she instilled in her children and grandsons a love for animals.
She loved her family, her friends, gardening, playing Bridge, bright colors, travel and the water.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne B. Miksch and husband Jack of Richmond; her son Steven C. Bowman and wife Kathleen of Midlothian; grandsons David J. Bowman, Cameron H. Miksch, Jonathan P. Bowman and Connor E. Miksch; her sister Anne H. Southworth and husband Charles of Richmond; and four loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 6 in Powell Chapel at Second Baptist Church, 9614 River Road, Richmond.
