Harlan L. Heikens
COURTLAND—Harlan Lavern “Hike” Heikens, 78, died March 21, 2009, at McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond.
He was born in Wellsburg, Iowa, a son of the late Harry and Dena Heikens.
Mr. Heikens was a U.S. Air Force veteran, former owner of Heikens Well Company, and a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pearl Schick Heikens; three sons, Randy Heikens of Franklin, Timmy Heikens and wife Ann of Courtland and Robert Heikens of Nags Head, N.C.; one sister, Beverly H. Hatcher; and three brothers, Marvin, Don and Jim Heikens, all of Iowa; and four grandchildren, Racheal, Dillon, Desty and Camryn Heikens.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis D. Buchholz officiating.
Interment, with military honors, will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 25280 New Market Road, Courtland, Va. 23837.
